Are there any after effects to the procedure top of page

Most patients have some mild discomfort with some mild bruising or swelling. As with all surgical operations there are rarely more serious effects.

    1. Significant haematomas develop in about 1% of patients using this technique. These usually settle spontaneously in a few weeks without further intervention. Rarely, surgical drainage of haematoma in hospital is necessary.

    2. In about 1% of patients an infection develops. This usually comes from within not from without as semen is naturally infected. A course of an antibiotic usually settles this.

    3. There is a very small incidence of long term pain after vasectomy, the reason for this is not known but as vasectomy is an elective procedure one should be aware of this.

What is the failure rate for the procedure top of page

The failure rate is very small and is quoted as 1/1000. Nature has a tendency to try and repair any damage!!! This is a far smaller failure rate than female sterilization

Does it hurt top of page

Most patients should be relatively pain free

How long till I can go back to work top of page
For 24 hours after one should rest (put your feet up have a beer and watch a DVD). For the next week try to avoid heavy lifting and avoid sex. Other than this you are free to return to work whenever you like.

How long does the procedure take top of page

Usually, the procedure itself takes only about 10 minutes.

Can a No Scalpel Vasectomy be reversed top of page

Yes, but it is a much more complicated procedure, and success cannot be guaranteed. Generally, the longer you had your vasectomy the less likely a reversal will be successful. If you are thinking about the possibility of reversal, perhaps you are not quite ready for a vasectomy, yet?
